Condition inspections and reporting

Condition inspections are a common procedure done to check the condition and viability of your assets.

Often, these are done when reevaluating a portfolio to check how much properties are worth, and if any work needs to be done to increase the value. But they can also be done any time you want to check a site’s condition.

Condition assessments

There are several times when it may be a good idea to get a condition assessment. One is to see how updates can improve the value of the property. Another is to check that your building meets the most up-to-date regulations.

A condition inspection is a thorough check of the site and its structural condition. We’ll check if anything is needed to keep the building safe and maintained, and that it meets Seismic building guidelines and other requirements.

Condition reports

Once we’ve completed the condition assessment, we’ll create a comprehensive report. This report will explain everything we found during our check. Each specific item we find will also include a photo for later reference.

Our report includes issues that need to be addressed to get the building up to code. It also includes recommendations for concerns that aren’t issues yet but that may be if they aren’t addressed in the near future. We’ll also write up a conclusion with our overall recommendations for next steps. Some common small suggestions include sandblasting and painting. Larger recommendations may be loft replacements, seismic strengthening and other repairs that can have a significant cost but also increase property value and ensure it is up to code.

If you do need repairs done, our team can help with the structural designs. We can also assist with construction monitoring should you decide to proceed with major fixes.
